Ajax
Když kouč Rinus Michels přišel do Ajaxu v sezóně 1964-65, byl Ajax téměř na sestup. Nakonec skončil 13 ze 16 týmů. Michels rozvíjel svojí taktiku tzv. totální fotbal, která brzy začala slavit úspěchy jak v klubové tak na mezinárodní úrovni.
Ajax díky této skvělé taktice a dalším změnám, které v klubu Michels udělal úplně obrátil. Překvapivě hned následující sezónu vyhrál domácí ligu a v Evropském poháru šokoval fanoušky Liverpoolu a celý fotbalový svět, když Liverpoolu naložil 5:1. O necelé tři roky později se stal Ajax prvním nizozemským týmem, který se v Evropském poháru dostal až do finále, kde však ale podlehl slavnému AC Milánu.
Popoháněný svým odvěkým nizozemským rivalem, Feyenoordem, který vyhrál Evropský pohár v roce 1970, získal Ajax trofej po následujíci tři roky. Za Ajax v této době hráli fotbalové legendy jako byl Johan Cruyff, Anie Haan, Ruud Krol a Johan Neeskens. Hráči uváděli svým nádherným, elektrizujícím fotbalem diváky do úžasu. V osmi sezónách dokázali vyhrát šestkrát nizozemskou ligu a v roce 1972 k tomu ještě přidali trofeje pro vítěze Evropského superpoháru a Světového klubového poháru.
Nikdo se tak nemohl divit, že spousta hráčů z Ajaxu reprezentuje Nizozemsko, které tehdy skončilo druhé na světovém poháru 1974. V polovině 70. let však Neeskens, Cruyff a kouč Michels odešli do Španělska a Ajax se dostal do období úpadku.
Nakonec se mu však podařilo nahradit své bývalé hvězdy mladými talenty jako byli Frank Rijkaard, Dennis Bergkamp a dvojčata Frank a Ronald de Boerovi. I v dnešní době patří Ajax mezi nejlepší Evropské celky, ale svojí slavnou historii už jen těžko někdy předčí.
